The annual career day of the department is for students who decide for an employment outside academia. The event is organized by the department in collaboration with MYJOBFAIR GmbH. Students can get in touch with potential employers and attend presentations and talks. Unlike with bigger career fairs, students as well as employers get the opportunity to have intensive and personal discussions and both sides can gain a first impression. Of course attendance is free for students and registration is not required. However, we recommend a thorough preparation. Students can for example attend job application trainings or set up online application profiles for the event and apply for stand-up meetings with participating companies at their exhibition stands. The last Career Day took place in June 2016. More detailed information on the next event, participating employers, the supporting program and on pre-registration follows in due course.
Our doctoral candidates benefit from an intense (academic) job market coaching: They participate in workshops on academic presentation skills and once a year, faculty invites all job market candidates to a job market training with a series of mock interviews. The Bonn Graduate Center (BGC) offers additional training and orientation for doctoral candidates.
The career center of the University of Bonn offers seminars, coaching and special events related to job orientation and career guidance.
