BGSE at a Glance: 10 Facts

ONE The Department of Economics and its Graduate School is one of the leading research institutions in Europe. We enjoy an outstanding reputation in the national and international scientific community and we are at the forefront of modern economic science.

TWO Our students learn from and work with a distinguished faculty renowned for their contributions to current economic research. The faculty comprises almost 40 professors and about 50 assistants.

THREE The main research fields of faculty members include game theory, experimental economics, monetary and international macroeconomics, contract theory, labour economics and finance.

FOUR Carreer days and job market trainings are part of our programs. Many former students of our doctoral program are nowadays in leading academic positions.

FIVE There is no tuition. Scholarships are available to students in the M.Sc. Economic Research and doctoral program.

SIX Our graduate programs combine demanding course work with early individual research in a supportive and intellectually demanding environment.

SEVEN All courses are taught in English. All doctoral candidates are provided with office space and computers.

EIGHT Our students benefit from a set of international exchange programs and can visit our partners in Europe (e.g. in Barcelona, Copenhagen, Florence, Leuven, London, Paris, Prague, Rotterdam, Toulouse) or overseas (e.g. UC Berkeley, Yale, Tel Aviv).

NINE We work closely together with our local partners as for example the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods, the Hausdorff Research Institute for Mathematics, and the newly founded briq - Institute on Behavior and Inequality. 

TEN We are located in the lively city of Bonn with its very international and student-friendly atmosphere.
